retired calguners had a good day

Me and three other calguners ED, STEVE , MIKE spent the morning at WEGC. had the entire range to ourselves most of the time. Fun to take a line break anytime you like [ often ].It was almost too cold . mucho ammo was fired. we shot
    M1 garand
    K 31
    1917 Eddystone
    two M1 carbines
    RIA 1911
    Custom ARs
many glocks and ruger pistols. Biggest bang was a simi auto shooting 30 cal carbine ammo with a 6 inch barrel. It would give a mosin M-44 a run for its money in the fireball department.
I think i have become a believer in Custom AR accuracy. Mike was hitting the same hole over many times at 100 yards with a scope.
308, 223,7.62-39 all three were very impressive. These were no over the counter AR but dang. I still enjoy shooting our C&Rs much more .

What semi auto, .30 carbine caliber gun with a six inch barrel were you shooting?

That sounds like a great day to me. What pistol was it for the 30 carbine? I've only seen the Ruger revolver. Did Ed get the M1 carbine with the staked piston nut working?

Was the pistol an AMT Automag III?

Glad you guys had a good time, never a dull moment at WEGC with good company.

Having a non traditional work schedule is fun. I'm eating pancakes at 11pm and hitting gunshops all day today and tomorrow.

Looks like I missed out. I did make it out for a midweek session a couple weeks ago.

It has been a while since I have shot my Win 54 30-06 or 30m1 carbine. I need to get my sights figured out on my win 94 30-30 so I can shoot silhouette again. Right now, my new AR 9mm build is keeping my mouth watering. I have only shot it twice, but will use it for the all steel 3gun match at WEGC in October.

It sounds like you guys had a good group of people and guns, and the weather was much nicer in the IE today, than it has been. The main range is fun to use on M-Th. On F-Su, I only use the private bays or 200 yard pad in the back, unless it is after the ROs go home. I know and like the ROs, but I prefer to do my own thing.

It was a pistol, looked like a desert eagle but it was not.

Pretty sure that's what it was. The super built AR's were nice. I didn't shoot it but it was cool watching the fire ball from it.

Another friend has a Ruger revolver in 30 carbine. It also is a flame thrower and loud. People in the know say the ballistics with a revolver shooting 30 cal carbine are nothing special. Close to a 357 mag. I am sure they are right But i am telling you it makes a very big bang and fireball. Maybe dumpy [ED ] will chime in he shot it that day .
