    CMP Ammo Arrives. HXP-65

I ordered two cans of 415BCAN on 11/5 and they arrived today. To my surpise, they were all HXP69 in 50 Cal cans with the HXP markings sprayed on, look great for the few boxes I opened, and the 400 rds/can magically turned into 440 rds/can.
    I really like CMP!
If I understand it right HXP65 is non-magnetic so would be great for some of the SoCal Ranges. Since I live in NorCal and don't have an issue with this, I would be willing to trade some (up to 440 rds) 1:1 for other HXP or LC 30.06. The catch is I'm not shipping this so you'll need to be in the Tracy or Fremont area.
Otherwise, I'm more than happy to release the potential energry of these rounds through my Garands.

    Sweet!

Those look like reused USGI .50 BMG ammo cans from WWII. Do the cans have the flaming bomb ordnance mark stamped into the metal?

Yeah those are neat ammo cans. They open from the long side verse the short.

I think you're right. Both cans have ordnance marks one with Belmont and one with Modern which I assume are the makers.

Well definitely worth a magnet test before trading but the one 400 rd can of HXP-65 that I got was non-magnetic. It seems like there are scattered years of non-magnetic out there...

All this talk of the CMP and Garands that I keep hearing has finally hooked me. I think I'm ready to buckle down and send in the necessary forms and get my very own M1 Garand before it gets anymore difficult.

If it's not magnetic, I'd love to trade with you. I have to drive up to the Bay Area soon.

Thanks for making that offer to us Garand ammo challenged SoCal shooters.

I just moved up from So Cal, and at Burro Canyon the RO would use a magnet. The problem with mil-surp M2 Ball is that often ferrous metals were mixed in with the copper creating a magnetic situation, though there is minimal risk of fire from these jackets. The Forest Service has a zero tolerance...if you are on their land and it is fire season and it attracts a magnet be prepared to be asked to put the ammo away.

CMP is the best and I but 480 rounds of HXP every 6 months and stack those crates like legos in my garage :-)

Those crates are pretty cool. I've got one in my garage with the spam cans still in it. I can't bring myself to empty it out and toss the little wooden house for my ammo.

Just tested a box from each can with the biggest magnet the kids have.
No attraction here! I compaired with some LC69 and HXP72 and those definately attract a magnet.
I'm also open to trading for M1 Carbine brass cased ammo as well but the ammo cans themselves aren't up for trade.
