    SVT40 Sniper

Anyone know where I may find one? I know there are a lot of fakes but I need one to somewhat complete my collection, have the 9130, the PU, a regular Finn capture 41 Izhevsk SVT, and the SVD tiger, but no sniper SVT. It has the side rails but no rear notch.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Real ones are not easy to find, I've been looking for one for a while

Best bet would be to keep checking gunshows and auctions sites, one will come up eventually but it won't be cheap

      You won the lottery?
What Jimja said, and I'll add, do your homework before you lay down that kinda cash. Items in that price range, are the ones most prone to be faked.

I wish, haha I just wouldn't mind em I've been reading up on em, to determine if the notch is legit or now, what is the price usually? I don't think I'd pay anywhere near my SVD cash

Last one I saw was several years ago at Simpsons, it was $6500.

Per all the threads I have read out there, I thought the "secret" of the notch was already known by the fakers.

I'd stay away from them unless they were at faker prices. It is probably as bad as trying to collect authentic German WWII Sniper rifles.

Agree that it's pretty hard to find a real, arsenal-made one. The fakery in Soviet gear is as high as German as well as M1 Carbines.

That ^ says it all right there...so much sophisticated faking going on in the milsurp sniper field that it's darn near a lost cause.

                  Tread carefully OP!!!

That's very unfortunate. Why do people have to make fakes, just call it a repo, and take some off the price. Gotta ruin it for everyone else.

This is why I have trust issues!

I have a "sniper" clone without a notch. I think I've worked out all the kinks...the mount is a repro, I added two set screws in the rear to secure it to the rifle coupled with some red loctite in the grooves. The set screws ride in the receiver grooves and the loctite will come off if needed, no alterations to the rifle itself. Might add two more set screws. Rock solid!

No, not a real sniper and never claimed it to be, but it's just as fun!

I will interpret that as "You aren't going to find one. Period."

The only fakery I have been a victim of was the K98 I bought from a guy who said the German General's initials were stamped on the barrel; "C.A.I." Supposedly, this General was also from Vermont, but went home to the fatherland when war broke out.

I saw one listed in the marketplace:

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!
