Your SKS is a garbage disposal and will eat whatever you feed it. I like Golden Tiger but Wolf and Tula run fine too. Tula seems dirty but it won't affect your rifle's functionality. Buy it cheap and stack it deep. I have heard all good about the M67 brass ammo. Corrosive but range safe.Comment

That same M67 is where the clips came from that I am sending you. It is wonderful ammo, it is corrosive though so clean your barrel & gas system after shooting.
Look for this to come in, they get it every couple of months and it sells like hotcakes, It is about the best cheap, new production I have shot. http://www.sgammo.com/product/golden...n-russian-ammoWanted: Spent Berdan primed Yugo 7.62x39 & 7.5x55 GP11 Swiss brassComment

I have tried Wolf, Tula, and Red Army - all steel cased. They all function but Red Army seemed to be the worse as far as accuracy.
Red Army also has an "Elite" brand that is brass cased and boxer primed if you want to reload. A guy at the range last week had the "Elite" brand and was not having much luck with the accuracy.
JG Sales has both flavors of Red Army but the Elite is nearly twice the price!Comment

I stick with FMJ to avoid feeding issues. I like the Wolf polyformance and their military classic ammo and the price is right. The Yugo is corrosive but good (and it doesn't attract a magnet). The only downside is you need to clean it relatively soon to avoid issues. SGAmmo usually has the best prices and fast shipping.
The beauty of the SKS design is it will eat almost anything all day long. I've also had really good results with my reloads using Hornady 123gr V-MAX bullets and IMR 4198 (I think it's 23 gr, but I can't recall right now). They do cost me more than the other ammo but I can shoot them at any range because they don't attract a magnet.Last edited by Enfield47; 08-04-2015, 9:58 PM.Comment

All of my 7.62x39 rifles seem to like the Golden Tiger.
When it shows up at competitive prices, I buy a bunch.
SGammo had it in recently, but may have sold out until their next shipment. You can have them email you when it returns.Last edited by retiredAFcop; 08-04-2015, 10:54 PM.Comment

Yeah, mine doesnt like the soft points. It jams up hard, taking half the nose off, and setting the bullet way back! One or two times out of ten. Which is enough for me to not want to deal with them.Originally posted by Marcus von W.Is that banjo music I hear?
"Sporter" is what the drooling toothless inbred albino with the hacksaw thinks his newly created "dear riffel" is.
"Bubba" is what he and his ugly and ruined rifle really are.
First you are chopping up historic vintage rifles and sticking them in cheap and nasty looking plastic "dildo" stocks that look like some kind of futuristic sex toy that gay space aliens stick up each other's butts.
Next thing you know, you think "Deliverance" is a love story.Comment

Where are you going to be shooting it? Both of my SKSs have never had a problem with any ammo. They eat anything. All day.Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

Whereas I have had stoppages with soft point ammo on a WASR 10, I have never had any ammo issues with any SKS I own. and I have several. It doesn't hurt to just stick to FMJ ammo though.
The Yugo M67 is appealing and the price is good. The only drawback is that you should give it a good cleaning after shooting it, including the gas tube and piston(s) (The SKS has two).
Otherwise with Wolf, I might clean after every few range trips and never a problem.Comment

Golden Tiger whenever possible. I have 400 rounds of that brass Arsenal stuff too if I have to go to a range that doesn't allow magnetic ammo. Shoot the Arsenal, try to find the far flung brass, reload it. It's a cycle.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer
