Bren Ten

I have zero C&R experience, so I apologize in advance for the newb question:

As a CA resident, can I buy a Bren Ten (made from approx 1983-1985) without worrying about the roster? Do I need a C&R license?

And a different question about the Bren Ten, any estimates on the value of a good condition one? I found one on gunbroker for $3500, but I have no idea if that's a fair price. I might fire it a little, but as a big 10mm fan, mostly want it as a collector's item.

Excellent, I didn't realize there was a list of C&R's, I just thought it was based on certain aspects of it's history/age/etc. Thanks a ton!

Anyone have any ideas on the value? I see a lot of people saying "a few grand" but I want to be sure I'm not getting a bad deal before I drop $3500

Side note, really sad that the state of affairs in CA doesn't allow me to have a magazine for it, since as far as I know they only made 12rd mags for 10mm. Will have to convince someone out of state to pin a mag at 10rds for me, and would have to tell the seller no-can-do on the free magazine that comes with it unless he feels like pinning it first.

For sure. Honestly it will pretty much just be a display piece, because I find them historically interesting, especially being a huge 10mm fan. So even if it came with no magazines and it took me 3 years to find one for under $400 I'd still consider it. Thanks for the tips and help guys!

From what I understand, they only made 2 Bren Tens that look like that (chrome slide), both were used for that show. I believe it was a .45acp version too. Wonder what happened to them? Someone must have them, and I bet they're worth a fortune.

Yeah the fact hat Sonny Crockett carried a Bren Ten instead of some off the shelf fake gun made me love Miami Vice even more. Geez, hard to believe that was 30 years ago.

I believe he switched over to a 645 sometime before he grew his hair long and actually became a bad guy for a while.

Younger folks might not remember, but Miami Vice was a big deal in the 80's. Friday night on NBC, we never missed it.

Where are you from? There are FFLs in CA that can accept the mag with your transfer and pin it. Baboosh I believe is one that can do it. I think there are others out of state that can also do it like audiophil2. I just read those magazines are hard to come by.

Either have it shipped to Baboosh if you're local to SoCal, or to Audiophil2 in AZ as a middleman transfer (in case the seller won't ship to CA or you're not local) to have the mags blocked. Don't leave the mag behind! They're hard to find, and expensive when you do find them.

Good luck even FINDING a Bren Ten mag! I would have to wonder if a 10mm Witness or CZ mag might fit with some mods.
