    Hardware Identification

    Hey guys,

My buddy gave me a bayonet and some ammo as a payment for helping him move. I'm hoping you guys can help me identify both items.
Ammo: Rounds are marked with FA 40, I think it's .30-06

Bayonet: I think it's German if that helps

need more info. Don't trust what's written on the ammo can.

Tell me what the headstamp on one of the cartridges says.

Thank you for the quick responses. The headstamp reads "F A 40" .

Japanese Type 30 bayonet and scabbard, late manufacture. Probably has a straight pommel (out of picture). It probably has markings which will tell you who made it.

Ammo is from Frankford Arsenal (manufactured in 1940?).

And hey wait...are those cupronickel bullets????

After doing some googling it appears that the bayonet is indeed a type 30 from Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. Thank you for the assistance. The members of Calguns never let me down. What does something like this go for? Is there a market for these items?

Looks like brass 06 springfield stripper clips, and 150gr nickle plated bullets -- FA-40 is - as previously stated --frank ford arsenal 1940 -- non-mercuric but corrosive primers -- presuming it is not reloaded --

Definitely a late war Japanese bayonet. Depending on the maker, it's worth about $80 to $100 on eBay.

Latter MFG, flat pommel and no grooves, but contoured grip. I'd say it's a Type-J variation
