I believe because those are similar to something like the world's largest spring powered gun and there is no explosion, explosives or compressed gas pushing out the round that theoretically it was should be legal here in California.

you might have to paint the tip orange because some spring powered guns in California need that but

I am NOT a lawyer and you should take a look at the "Calguns foundation Wiki information pages"
although this is such an oddball item I'm not sure they'll even cover it there.

Aye, I could not find anything while searching for it. I just think it would go great with the Bren and Sten projects and the stack of Enfields.

Interesting, it's not a firearm so it shouldn't be treated much different than a crossbow or something like that. Heck, almost no one would even know what it was if they saw it anyways.

FWIW in past years I saw them for sale at the Pomona gun show.

the accepted method for cocking one was to lay on the ground and use your feet to cock it. Be careful because the spring is powerful enough to break limbs.

Looks like I will sell my carbine and attempt to acquire it.

unless I was planning to launch fosters beer cans across a parking lot. (I'm just guessing those might fit the launch tube.)

I would stick with your carbine.

                  but that's just my opinion...

it would also be cool if you got one cuz I'm thirsty for a beer.

Is Grenade Launcher defined in the penal code, and if so how?

After all, that is what it is.

I think they got me on this one

                      16460. (a) As used in Sections 16510, 16520, and 16780, and in
Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 18710) of Division 5 of Title 2,
"destructive device" includes any of the following weapons:
                      (1) Any projectile containing any explosive or incendiary material
or any other chemical substance, including, but not limited to, that
which is commonly known as tracer or incendiary ammunition, except
tracer ammunition manufactured for use in shotguns.
                      (2) Any bomb, grenade, explosive missile, or similar device or any
                      launching device therefor.

                        Hmm.

Unless there is case law saying that a PIAT launcher is not considered a launching device, I wouldn't touch it.

May want to ask the same question here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/f...play.php?f=330

The any launching device is I believe the catch-all sadly.

You could order one of these and make your own Fosters can thrower: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ei...150s/overview/
