Who said grown ups cant play GI Joe.

Well after looking at some of you guys collection I thought id post a picture of mine ( I know the 1919 is not a C&R but it kind of fits the theme ). Thanks to all the members here for teaching me how to get a C&R as well as lighting the fire for my interest in old military weapons. I hope to continue to increase my collection and build something nice for myself as well as my kids. As a side note you may notice the old blanket; that blanket was left to me by my grandfather after his passing. It was one of the only things we know he brought back from Korea. As he was a veteran from the Chosin Resevoir id imagine it has some stories to tell. As I was getting things ready I thought it was pretty cool to have that blanket with a only gun he told me how much he like an m-1 carbine next to it. Made for a great day of memories. Thanks guys for all the info you put out here.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

I love the Bayonet on the Mosin... It looks 2 feet long! especially in comparison to the rest.

I think you need to throw a Thompson in there!

You've got a couple of Enfields there, why not come over and join the Limey's.

We chase the same Jerries, but we do it with much more style.....

You reminded me of one of my friend's relatives, his grandfather Harold B. Price (Navy doc holding onto his sling) who was photographed in one of the Korean War's most iconic images.

He's a Marine and told me that that picture is actually on display at the MCRD SD. Lots of hidden personal histories, I'm sure that blanket has been through hell.

The photojournalist who took the picture, David Douglas Duncan (who was a Marine in WW2), became famous for his Chosin pics. If your grandfather had not passed, who knows, maybe he could say if he had ran into the photographer at some point.

You know even when he was alive he never talked about his experiences. The only time he did I was 6 or 7 and my brother and I were playing army I had put on an insignia upside down, that upset him greatly. Ill never forget the emotion he had telling me to never disrespect the dead that way and be glad I was alive. There was a movie clip once on tv as this was way before the history channel and he got all excited and said "I blew that bridge up"! He also said he lived on tootsie rolls because every thing was to frozen to eat and at the reunions tootsie rolls were always there free from the manufacture. He was a good man.
Id love to add a Thompson, but want an 03 first as well as some German rifles. Lets be honest my want list never ends.

The re-enactment sounds like fun as well.

Im going to be sure to look into that photographer. As always a wealth of information thanks guys!

Its not playing , its reenacting. Some wife reads that and there goes the money for toys (read as correct period firearms)
