Smith 10 Serial #

Am out of state and trying to buy Smith 10, 2" bbl. Has diamond grips and "C" prefix serial number just under 670,000. It's a 3 screw. I know diamond grips ended in '68, C prefix in '67 at 999,999. Cabelas is thus far erring on "not sure = no". Can't fault them for that, am looking for a way to provide reputable answer.

Standard catalog of smith and Wesson 3rd edition places c622700-c810532 at 1963-1965. Home that gives you better idea

Thanks. I have to convince Cabelas that puts the gun before April '65. The Gun Library guy said the have a "compliance guy" who checks CA DOJ. I have a feeling that means talking to some momo who says "Model 10 - not on list" and I'm screwed.
