Does anyone know whether there are any published specifications for the sling used on the Yugoslavian M48?
As my rifle came with no sling, I bought one from Numrich. It stinks like mad but is definitely supple. I tried cleaning with saddle soap and Lexol but I am guessing this was Cosmoline treated. Some areas seem rotten where the leather was in contact with the buttons. It seems to be made of 10/11 oz. leather about 25mm wide. I think that a 1" wide strip of latigo should make a suitable replacement for the sling, using the original hardware. The first few adjustment holes appear to be spaced every 6 cm but there is an extra one that is not in the same spacing. Perhaps someone modified it.
Are there sources just for the metal bits (i.e. the brass button and the metal core of the keeper)?
