    Mosin Nagant problem

I have a mosin Nagant chines t53 in jail paid 80 for it, well there might be a problem not sure if it's the sear or cocking piece, ran the bolt a few dozen times and sometimes the cocking piece would slam home aka slam fire ,doesn't do it all the time but enough for me to be concerned, even tried to hold the trigger forward and close the bolt and it would still close, cocking piece kinda looks shiny and not sure about the sear didn't get to look at it, it's pretty slippery with oil my fault I cleaned it for him had a little rust and cosmolin not sure if that had something to do with it, I'll see if I can go to the ffl and get pictures or does it sound like a botched trigger job or just worn parts, happens both working the bolt hard and gentle, though I didn't take the trigger assembly apart

Not uncommon. Order another sear. I believe it is actually called a "trigger spring" if my memory is correct. There are plenty of youtube videos on how to change it. I bought one at www.buymilsurp.com. It solved the problem. Mine only slam fired when it was very hot.

Don't yank on the trigger. It's not your pecker.

you can try bending the trigger spring up but for the small amount of $ I would get a new one. My 1929 had a trigger spring that someone had filed down (it was shiney) It would only slam fire after it get hot. It was a damn good lesson in always pointing in a safe direction!

Definitely check the trigger spring screw, mine has come loose a few times, I also thought it was the bolt acting up.

Got to take it apart and clean it and check the screw, the ffl is nice and let me do it works better but still doesn't pass the bump test short drop to the floor and click cocking piece drops so I'll be buying a new sear and maybe a cocking piece
