I have a James River Armory "Rock-ola" M1 carbine that I bought about 1.5 years ago. James River bought the Rock-ola name. It is NOT an original Rock-ola........ I finally got around to shooting it today. The rifle looks brand new, and is described as a new mfg receiver, barrel, and stock. The rest of the parts are refinished or reparkerized USGI surplus.
After disassembling and putting a light bit of Lubriplate on the contact points, I took it for a spin today. Ammunition was factory Aguila FMJ brass ammo and Korean surplus 15 round magazines.
The rifle shot well enough, although a couple times the bolt closed after ejection on an empty chamber. I chalked that up as likely a magazine problem.
After maybe 30 rounds total, the rifle fired and ejected, and appeared to go back into battery. A metal piece came off the bolt and fell on the table. The bolt was closed but seized up solid. No bodily force could budge it open, even a rubber mallet I had.
I took the rifle home and took it apart. I still haven't got the bolt or bolt handle to move. The good news is the stock, trigger group, and receiver seem to be OK. The bolt is clearly toast, but I am not well versed with these rifles so I am not exactly sure what is broken.
I will be posting pics in a few minutes, and any feedback is most appreciated.
