    messed up again.

Went into the gun store to buy a modern .308 Hunting rifle but instead is paid for a 1915 all matching SMLE NO.1 Mk 3* with a decent bore which will clean up very nicely. A bit confusing because the * allegedly didn't start until 1916 but there is no slot for a cutoff so it's all correct. Only $250 was a steal.

To me that is pretty much the opposite of "messing up"

Brass buttplate - good condition overall though needs a cleanup. Bantam buttstock though so it feels like shouldering a hobbit's rifle. Tis in jail for ten days but i might pop along this lunchtime to grab a couple of pics..

Sometimes you step in it sometimes you miss the pile in the dark.

You did well at less than have the prices that I have seen recently, congrats!!!!!

You can get longer stocks for them, I "think" they came in 2 or 3 lengths.

Went to take pics today and look and behold. A nice No.5 had just come in on consignment so it joined the No.1 in jail. Owner wanted 700 Soni asked them to call with an offer of 500. Ended up at $550. Very happy with this

$550 for a No. 1 AND a genuine No. 5? I'll bet you are smiling right now. I would be.

No no the No.5 cost $550 on its own but it looked pretty much immaculate. Locking lugs and bolt face hardly impacted at all. Dated 1936 and blueing intact all over.
