Spanish Mauser chambered in 7mm. I believe it is called a "1916 short Mauser."

      ^Yep ^

and if it has a flat bottom bolt face it started life as a Spanish Model 1893.

Be sure and confirm caliber before firing. Many were re-arsenaled and later chambered for the 7.62 CETME Spanish cartridge.

Are there markings on the left reciever rail?

If so please post a pic of them.

It still has the "guardia civil" crest, that's a nice one.

It may be 7mm or 7.62.

If it's still 7x57 and it's matching, plus it has that crest, it's basically the holy grail of Spanish 1916 short rifles.
