    M39 score

Very excited about my latest C&R purchase. Picked up a nice 1941 Sako M39 with beautiful wartime stock and a good shiny bore from a local PPT. Took it apart after getting it home and found it had an 1894 dated Izhevsk receiver, making it over 120 years old which is just crazy to think about. Wish I could have skipped the transfer process with it being an antique, but still feel like I got a hell of a deal. This is my first mosin nagant, and I feel like I couldn't have found a better first example. Can't wait to get it out to the range this weekend.

        Really nice!

My one M39 (a 1943 on an Izhevsk receiver) is also my only Mosin. Cheap ammo is awesome!

Kind of digging the two tone effect with the lighter hand guard. That is a beauty you scored. Need a range report when you get it out there.

            Purdy!
and Welcome to Calguns and Mosins, it's a very slippery slope... And you started near the top with that m39!

You should check out some of the other m39's in the gallery here, and add yours!

Congrats, nice pickup. Acquiring a Finn as your first Mosin may result in viewing Russian Mosins as rather crude in comparison.

Congrats, very nice looking M39. As Jthesby and Bobby said, your first Mosin was an excellent choice, the pinnacle of the Mosin platform in my book.

I already liked Finns a lot. But my past range trip, where the same ammo caused sticky bolt from hell in my 91/30, yet fed like melted butter through my M39... That sealed the deal.

Beautiful score! Once you go Finn, you can't go back. Some of the best shooting C&R's, period. Laser accurate too.

                      Congratulations!

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Nice M39! That's a very nice first Mosin! Watch out though, some how they multiply...
