Romanian M44 accessories?

What should I be looking for? Interested in finding some stripper clips for it. Are there period specific ones or ones to avoid?

I dont recall ever coming across a Romanian clip. Probably out there but not common.

I lucked out on a 1953 Romanian M44 that is all matching a few months ago. It is cool to collect the non-Russian Mosin variants.

my 1955 Romanian has very nice metal. Bulgarian 200 round spam cans come with the best 7.62-54r stripper clips you can find. I have owned maybe 20 Mosins and never one time used their stripper clips. stacking rimed cartridges properly is a pain .

Whatever you do, don't buy the repros. They don't work worth a da*m, I have about 20 sitting in a bag, never again! I bought a few boxes of WWII Russian ammo with Izhevsk marked clips. The clips work alright, but as mentioned it's a PITA to reload the clips and they are not smooth at all. If you're used to Mauser stripper clips and the smoothness associated, forget about it with the Mosin clips. It's an inherent problem with the rimmed round, like the British 303.

The clips work alright, but as mentioned it's a PITA to reload the clips and they are not smooth at all. If you're used to Mauser stripper clips and the smoothness associated, forget about it with the Mosin clips. It's an inherent problem with the rimmed round, like the British 303.

While I can't speak to the Mosin stripper clips, the Enfield clips work really well. You do need to know how to insert the cartridges into the Enfield stripper clip so as not to get rim lock when loading the magazine. Once you do it a few times, you get a feel for it. Sorry for the off topic... keep calm and carry on.

The blued Bulgarian are the Cadillac of clips for Mosin. Very smooth

Stacking the rims in a clip couldn't be easier. Load them in any way. Grab clip with one hand. With other hand gently pull bullets outward and tilt them upward. The rims will all be stacked in front of one another

Of course with a properly functioning interrupter (or HV mag) stacking is not necessary

Bryan, you are right those Enfield clips work well, better than Mosin clips but not as well as Mauser clips. My experience with the enfield and mosin clips is they only load one way, it won't work if they are upside down.

google is your friend, do your homework on the accessories, then keep an eye on eBay for the deals would be your best bet because most country specific accesaries will most likely be found on the secondary market.

And try out some HB ammo in that 44 and get back and tell us how your shoulder feels.
