That's because the parts kits the CAI junko receiver Garands were assembled from Garands made on WRA equipment for Denmark by the Italians post WW2, Breda and Beretta parts are high quality like the USGI.

700 is a bit much since the cmp has them for not much more.

Price check those same rifles the CMP has at your LGS (if they have any). The CMP sells them cheap.

I saw one go for $600 on a Proxibid auction site a couple months back, I figured somebody was desperate for a Garand and didn't know what they were looking at OR they needed some Italian parts for a Beretta or Breda Garand.
