    Remington Blasphemy?

I had an old rusty Remington Model 51 that was all gunked up would have never been a real collector piece. I decided to make it a shooter and had it Cerakoted in OD Green.

I'd of done in a different color but at least you salvaged it. I've always thought were neat guns I may get one. I collect odd guns and a Remington handgun is a bit odd.

I've wanted one for years too. IF doing paint, I'd have gone blaze orange ;-)

I've got an East German Mak that someone left on the floorboards of their truck. Bluing is all blotchy now, but there's no pitting. It's so ugly I've toyed with doing something to her too, but I'm pretty sure I'd be ruining any remaining value.

Yeah... any "expert" will tell you that refinishing anything is worse than a rusty original finish. At least you helped some one pay for their kid's braces.
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted in a profoundly sick society.

But sometimes things like this look better and will last longer than a neglected rusty gun

You should have just rattle-canned it, would look just as "good"

It looks good, I like it. It almost reminds me of the green plastic toy soldier guns.

I have always loved the look of the Model 51. Its a shame the R51 didn't live up to expectations.

They're great shooters...they point very naturally. If it was a little more modern, I would use it for daily carry. I think the OD green came out nice...my homage to Patton.

So what? I don't see anything wrong with investing $100 to refinish a $200 "collector's gun" that is in really bad shape. Maybe the collector's value will fall to $175 but, the utilitarian value will end up being $350?
