Thanks to Trickster for posting. A highly subjective subject to be sure, and many including myself may disagree with the content.
I personally have no interest in Enfields or Nagant revolvers. I'll likely never own either. Same with (not mentioned in article) Italian Carcanos, Arisakas, or any south American Mauser variants.
The article did blunder in that it mentioned 2 Mosin variants and no Mauser.
Yes, I know the 1903 was there, but it just is not the same. I'd take a Finn M39 before any Russian variant, and I strongly prefer my K98's over the 1903, which has a more complicated bolt assembly.
Everyone will have their .02, this is mine.Comment

You can't limit it to just 7 with the massive variety.
I'd probably have swapped the Nagant revolver with a Vz.24 or yugo mauser instead.Originally posted by GoodEyeSniperMy neighbors think I'm a construction worker named Bruce.

Have you shot an Enfield? I wasn't that hot on them, but then I bought a No IV MKI, then a No V MKI. They are both really great to shoot. Much more impressive than I thought they would be. I am now a fan.Last edited by Capybara; 03-20-2015, 10:05 PM.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

No SKS and no Mauser 98 but he put a Nagant revolver on the list?"All bad precedents began as justifiable measures." Julius CaesarComment

I no longer have my Nagant pistol. It was cool to look at and think of its history but kind of a pain to shoot. surplus ammo likes to jam in the cylinder after being shot. and the trigger pull is a beast. but like most guns i tire of them after a while and move on.Comment

Kind of an odd assortment, but everyone has their favorites. I say collect them all!
Bobby, I have a feeling you would like the Enfields if you gave them a try. They are great rifles and have one of the smoothest actions you will ever feel. The No.4 Mk2 is the pinnacle of their design and arguably the best shooter because of the sights. Surplus ammo for them has basically run dry, but they are easy to reload for.Comment

I have no doubt they are fine rifles. However, there is so much C&R variety out there that I have to set some limits. New platforms with new calibers to stock up on are strictly verboten for me.Comment
