    C&R-Related Question

    I'm looking at buying a Ishapore 2A that was made in 1965. According to my math, (which isn't very good - I blame that on my public education) the gun is 50 years old and does not have be DROS'd. I have a C&R lic and a COE.
    I know I have to send $$$ and a form, once I purchase the firearm.

    Am I wrong?

    a. Firearms which were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas of such firearms;

    I think people would be more comfortable with an extra year (i.e. 2016) just in case the ATF is a stickler for month-day-year as "current date".

    Just go through an FFL and be safe. Add it to the bound book too just to be double safe.

      There might be some nit-pickers who would say: "if it was made in December of 1965 it's only 49 years and 3 months old."

      I would be inclined to go for it.

        I believe the Ishapore 2A is listed as a Curio and Relic on the C&R list, and with the 2014 long gun registry, one thing that was removed was the requirement for a C&R long gun to be more than 50 years old. Now, if it's a C&R long gun listed on the C&R list and it is under 50 years old, it should be OK to ship to your home.

        That being said, 1965 is exactly 50 years ago from this year, so it's OK, even if the 50 year old requirement is no longer necessary.

          Yep, on the list, page 24:

          Lee Enfield Rifle, caliber 7.62 2A and 2A1 “India” all variations, originally manufactured at Ishapore Arsenal, India, through 1973.
