CMP has M1903 and M1903A3 Available

CMP has some complete rifles and some barreled actions available on the website. However, there are not a lot of them and I expect they will not last long. These are all vet org returns and will likely have poor bores from firing blanks for many years.

I bought a 1903A3 from CMP last time they were available and I was very fortunate as the bore in my barrel looks almost brand new. You might be lucky and get a good one.

Luck of the draw will keep me from getting one.

but the question is, would we do better getting 1 off of gunbroker than from the CMP????

Thats what I did. CMP seems to overstate bad condition to cover themselves but I'd hate to spend $500 on a sewer pipe bore. Luck of the draw is just too much gambling IMO.

CMP's seem to be all mix-matched from what I understand so why not just build one? I've been thinking about the idea for a while now.. I don't have have the money to buy a matching one but I could manage to put one together over time

Why not get a barreled receiver from the CMP? $150

Then you can buy the bolt, stock, trigger mechanism, butt plate, and barrel over time.

I'm going to replace my old 1921 barrel with a match barrel from Pac-Nor. They have the dimensions to make you an 03 barrel. It's not that the old barrel is not good, it is. I just don't want to wear it out because I plan on shooting the heck out of this Springfield.

Ive been in the M14 game for awhile and pieced one together. But Id really like to get in to the 1903 game. Can you give me brief details on what parts I would need to piece one together. How difficult would this project be? TIA
