Never know where a Garand might turn up...

My wife and I visited Athens last year and visited the old Royal Palace.

    Ceremonial Guards were armed!

The 1st picture is too small...... can't see enough detail.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

I notice that the guard has his rear sight set for long range.

            Yeah, nice pics.
The Greeks received plenty of Garands after WWII.

I bet not many bug them about it.

The guards were giants. I'm 6' and in one of the pictures I'm posing next to the guy and look puny in comparison. Guy must have been 6'6".

I'm sorry, but if some Japanese school girl wore that outfit she would look the same with a school uniform lol

Any guy who has the b@lls to dress like that is not one to mess with. I'm sure their guards are choice troops.

Nice Garand by the way. Jealous.

As I said, it seemed to me that you would screw with these guys at your own risk. They were BIG and serious looking.

Here's me (6') standing next to one...

                            Great photos!

The Greeks returned a bunch of M-1s, 03s, and 03A3s to the U.S. in the last decade that the CMP got in turn and sold. Some of the M-1s were in unissued condition. Looks like they kept some for ceremonial use.

A bit of that minority of the younger generation is liberal and has served in combat. I work with one such individual. He is half my age, but I respect him more than anyone else I know. He also can write correct English. He also does not use run-on sentences.
