For those looking for a Makarov locally

If you are in SoCal, Calgunner K.G.B. has been having problems selling his Baikal Russian commercial Makarov. Not cheap but he sounds a bit negotiable. Just posting this because Maks have been rare in the CG Marketplace lately.

Everything is relative. When I go to local GS I am amazed at the price of guns.I bought a marakov in the mid nineties for $125; also bought a Colt 1911 for $375. I also remember buying a house for $80 K

I agree, overpriced. It does say firm but everything is negotiable. The guys had already had, what three or four buyers flake on him? If I was in the market for a Mak, I would make him an offer. Or it will just sit there, wait a few weeks and if he doesn't get a buyer, he will become more negotiable.

It is also off roster, so it isn't like you can find one off gunbroker and have it shipped to SoCal.

Got me curious though, looking at completed auctions on GB, I see some selling for $200 (buy it now) and some bidded up to $350+.

I'm not living in past gun is still overpriced even in today's market. If you feel it is a good price by all means buy it. It is your money. Not every off list gun commands a premium or a large premium. People can justify being impulsive and buying overpriced guns but in the end there is no denying they paid more than they probably should have.

I see people on this forum pay way too much for guns all the time that a little judicious shopping and being patient would have gotten then a better deal.

I saw this. Was interested until I saw the price. That's more than I sold my 61 EG MAK for. Wonder if it includes the original rear sight?

Problem is the price. It is very high for todays market. I just picked one up for $175 and considered that a smoking deal. Mine is the exact same gun. But I would value his at about $350.00. If he really wants to sell it, he should reduce the price $25.00 bucks a week until it moves.
However, saying all that, it is his right to ask what he wants. It is his gun and maybe he really does not want to sell it.

Alright, where did you steal a Russian Mak for that price from? ;-) That's an incredible deal.

I still see IJ70's in 380 and 9x18 1-2x a year sitting in gun shops for $250ish sometimes a bit less but that is rare these days.

to me 300-350 is an acceptable price depending on if it comes with extra mags/ammo, condition and what kind of Mak. Russian, Bulgarian, Russian commercial ect...

Of course. You're price range is very broad considering type and extras. I paid $325 for a Makarov last year but it was a Russian military but discreetly import marked.

Import markings are Import markings no matter how brazen or discrete they are unfortunately. Value is not in the size of the marking but in the lack there of.

I mostly agree but many still prefer not to have huge billboard import marks. Most my guns that do have import marks are of the smaller type. I guess it is somewhat like being slightly pregnant. I also prefer Arisakas to have an untouched mum but can deal with a barely nicked mum better than one crudely ground all the way off.

I got my 380 IJ70 late last year for $250.
Seller listed at 300 and I would have done it then, but I waited a day and he dropped it so I'm happy. That $50 paid for my gas (almost).

He dropped the price today so might be last chance for this one.
