get on the mailing list for places like "classic Firearms". When I wanted one, I goggled, then went on the waiting list for every company that offered them and had a waiting list link. Then when they were available, picked the one with the best deal.

Some Maks are C&R, some are not, from memory, the Russian or East German military models are, the Bulgarian, Chinese and Russian commercial models are not, but check the list to confirm.

There are P64s available now that are C&R:
Historic Polish P64 pistol manufactured in the famous Radom Plant, semi-automatic, 9x18 caliber. These are very nice examples of these pistols and we especially like the discreet and unobtrusive importer stamp on these - it is on the underside of the pistol forward of the trigger guard and leaves the visible sides of the slide and the original factory markings unmolested. Don't miss the chance to own an excellent example of these historic and popular pistols.C&R Eligible

While not exactly what you are looking for, they are a military pistol in 9mm Mak that are C&R.

While its not a makarov, you can always buy a bersa firestorm. It, like the makarov is influenced by the walther ppk. plus 9mm kurz is easier to find.

I've a Russian Mak I bought years ago (late 80's early 90's) and I think I paid < $150 for it new with 2 mags, holster and cleaning kit. Since then I've seen models offered in .380 conversion if ammo availability is an issue.

Calguns Marketplace if you want a none C&R or Gunbroker/Gunboards if you want a C&R. If you can find one, expect to pay about $650.00 and up for a military Russian and about $350.00 to $550.00 for an E. German Makarov. They are sweet guns. I bought a Bulgarian from a fellow Calgunner a few months ago, it's become one of my favorites.

                        C&R are roster exempt.

I personally needed 19 or 21 lb replacement Wolff recoil spring for my Bulg. Mak, as the 17 lb factory springs can result in pain to the web of your hand (a common complaint.)

Only pistol that I had a problem with.

Mine is snappy, and the slide mounted safety can chew up your hands. Link to the spring?

Picked mine up on the marketplace for 300. Very nice ij-70
