    Can Anyone Identify This Gun?

I was talking guns with my boss and he said he had an old gun that he got from his dad and no one can tell him anything about it. I told him I had just the place to figure it out. Anyone recognize this gun? Have any history on it? Any guesstimates on value?

            I did a quick search.
I have a Ivers Johnson Champion single shot 12 gauge shot gun with a 30" barrel. The only numbers I can find are stamped under the barrel when you break it open. The numbers are 11 7 23. I know it's old but I don't know if the numbers are a date or serial number. Does anyone have a little history...

The make and model are both stamped on it. There isn't a lot of research needed. They were your basic utility shotgun. Nothing fancy. Not collectable, and not particularly valuable for anything other than something to shoot. If he is looking to sell it, I would be surprised if he can get more than $100. $50-75 would be more likely. $25 if he wants to sell it to his local gun store. If it locks up tight, it should still be shootable, though the chamber is likely to be 2 3/4 inches only. I would stick to light loads because of the age and materials. These are yesteryear's version of the NEF Pardner shotguns, or the current generation of Rossi single shot shotguns.
