Looks like a sporterized Arisaka Type 99. Show the top of the receiver for a more precise ID.

      Damn, beaten by the Beerman.

              I'd almost say type 38?

Barrel looks way long for a T99.

something like that would be worth to restore, you got the rear and front sights on still.

If it is a 38, it is missing the ears.

If it is a 99, it's missing the hood.

                      Rear is intact.

Child safe for when the child figures out it's a 7.7 Japanese cartridge? Now that's a child with C&R knowledge.

The hinged magazine plate and the peep sights with the missing AA wings definitely show that it is a Type 99. The barrel does look longer than standard, but that might be an optical illusion or it could be an early T99 Long. Not worth restoring unless there is some sort of historical/sentimental value.

Yep, type99. Stock cut and bolt bent, but at least the barrel wasn't cut. Chances are the bolt doesn't match anyways and stocks are easy to get. I'd restore it. It'll never be worth what you spend but at least it's YOURS. If you don't want to go to the trouble, sell it to one of us who will hug it and love it and re-stock it and pet it....
