Is this broom handle worth it?

In a heartbeat. A matching, original Bolo in that condition would likely sell for $1200 or so. I suspect that one is one of the Chinese guns that were imported back in the eighties. It has been bored to 9mm as they originally came in 7.62 Mauser. While it has been reblued and the caliber has been changed, it should be a good shooter.

I bought one of those imported from China Broomhandles from Trader's back in the 80's. I specifically asked if they could handle modern 9mm ammo and was assured that they would. I took it to the range and within the first ten shots a part of the bolt stop broke off and smacked me.

Trader's did fix it for free but I never fired it again.

They were made by Waffenfabrik Mauser for export. A few went to the fledgling USSR and were dubbed the name they are forever known by, Bolo (short for Bolshevik). Most went to China and were a great favorite of Chinese Warlords, Sun Yat Sen's boys, Generalissimo Chang Kai-Shek and the Communists under Mao. They were used to death and by the time they got here, very few had any finish or bores left.

Here is a couple that I have, still in their original as-imported 100% no-finish-at-all.
