Nice. Hope for original stock, my 1954 HRA is a gorgeous rifle but came with a CMP stock.

I will share photos as soon as possible. I'm excited its a WW2 rifle. I hear one doesn't stop with just one Garand. This could get expensive!

How do you go about getting one of these from CMP?
IF YOU BUY ANY BULK AMMO FROM LAX AMMO, YOU BETTER COUNT THE ROUNDS. I WAS SHORTED BY THEM.

Opportunities to Buy CMP offers many opportunities to buy – and service – vintage rifles and pistols, including direct sales, auctions and custom gunsmithing.  If you are looking to completely outfit a custom M1 Garand, we have resources for you, as well! The federal law that established the new CMP authorizes the Corporation to sell surplus .30 and.22 caliber military rifles, genuine U.S. military-issued M1911A1 pistols, parts and ammunition to qualified U.S. citizens “for marksmanship”. Accordingly, the CMP sells government-surplus M1 Garands, .22 caliber target rifles, genuine U.S. military-issued, field-tested M1911A1 pistols and small quantities of other rifles to qualified purchasers. Order Limits Effective January 7, 2025: Customers are allowed to purchase up to twelve (12) surplus rifles (any type) per year. This limit excludes .22 rifles.  Effective May 2025: The lifetime purchase limit of 1911 surplus pistols has been updated from two (2) pistol to four (4) pistols. Surplus Ammo Limit: 2,000 rounds per caliber per year.Commercial Ammo Limit: None  Please note: The CMP strictly enforces the limits referenced above. The CMP, at it’s discretion, reserves the right to ban from all future sales any attempts made by customers to circumvent these limits.

BTW, after hearing the stories of long waits from CMP, I'm very happy with the turnaround time. Mailed my complete package on 01/20/2015 via regular mail and the rifle shipped today. I was prepared to wait the 3-6 months waiting time quoted on CMP's website. Guess I got lucky.

You will love shooting your Garand. In case you haven't read through the disassembly instructions for cleaning and inspection, here they are http://www.garandgear.com/m1-garand-strip.

You should also order a op rod spring from Garand Gear. It's quite possible the one that will ship with your rifle has seen better days, so it's best to replace it. Even if your op rod spring looks good, the spring is inexpensive and worthwhile to have on hand in case you need it. You should also pick up a gas cylinder wrench so you don't bend the gas cylinder when removing the plug.

Wow, only about 3 weeks. Most were taking 3 months a few years ago. Makes me want to get another.
                              Congrats!
