Throw out everything you built, altered, bought. I for one can't stand the featureless look but, I think this Baby is a bad *** looking featureless setup. I found out they offer just the buttstock also. I will be grabbing a few of the buttstocks. Has that modern/future military look to it, What do you guys think?

Now if we were talking post apocalyptic times and you had to go
Star Wars Edition...that's a different story...but in those times pistol grips would be unfettered.

At the very least your Ace Hardware Mods deserve the black rattle can look
Star Wars edition? No.... Mad Max edition... :-)

On the black rattle can look, I agree. It's ugly. I thought about dipping the eye bolt into those rubber coating dips that are used for coating tool handles. I may still do that. If someone wanted to make nice professionally manufactured ones, there may be a market there - Maybe a nice black anodized post with a skull head at the end....

    Thanks for the feedback.

New Idea for Better Featureless Grip

    CalGun Folks,

    My first posting...

I modified one of my AR15s and an AR10 to be featureless, but, I added something new that really helps the grip. Unfortunately, I have those two guns stashed away in a hiding spot so I can't photograph them easily. However, I did the same modification to an AK74 and a PTR91, which I have photographed. These will be fine for you all to understand what I did to my ARs.

On the AK74 example, after adding a Kydex panel on side to block the thumb wrap around grip (I did my own Kydex panel), I drilled a hole through the handle and added an eye bolt that extends out the right side (same side as my thumb). I wrap my thumb over the top of the eye bolt for the added grip - see photos. I tell you it feels pretty damn good. This way, the total cost of modifications, including the Kydex panel was about $3 per gun. I have done 6 guns thus far.

For the PTR91, I took a slightly different approach. I used a common hanging hook (see photo below), cut off one leg of the hook, and attached that around the backside of the handle. The hook version is nice because it is rubber coated for an even better grip an the distance to the trigger is a better, longer distance and feels better. With my AR15, I have shot sub-MOA at 200 yards with this grip. Feels great.

I know the modifications where I drilled through the handle is heresy for some purists, but, it is super cheap and relatively easy. And, if the Supreme Court dies it's job and eventually overturns these silly laws against "evil features," I can easily take these off or buy new grips.

    AK74 showing eye bolt

    AK74 showing Kydex Panel Side

AK74 showing hand grip over eye bolt

Common Hook (from Ace Hardware) for PTR91 grip

PTR91 showing hook out of right side

    PTR91 showing Kydex Panel Side

PTR91 showing hand grip over hook extension

Enjoy. I hope other find this helpful.

Edit:Keep in mind the LWRC has an end cap next to the castle nut which is thicker than most because it has an Ambi quick release for the sling. this end cap is 1/4 inch wide where it contacts the castle nut. You'll need to subtract what, about 1/8th inch from that 9-9/16? for a standard end cap. I'm sure you're aware you can increase the LOP of this set-up in a variety of ways...

True, ill probably never need NVG's but its fun and in its niche use area are invaluable.

I may be a meathead dumbass, but I am also left handed. This puts the safety right where I want it with featureless guns. Our work rifles are owned by the .gov so obviously they are not subject to the rules I have to follow for my personally owned weapons. Early on in basic training I learned to manipulate the safety with my trigger finger. Even as a lefty I have zero use for a lefthanded AR set up.

I have an A2 upper I decided to go featureless with. I put the blem Thorsden on it and decided to two-tone the side plates and cheekpiece. Pic doesn't show the comp.
