Some sights have serrations to aid with shine/glare and/or are flat and plain on one side where the opposite has logos or something so having it in the reverse orientation wouldn't fly.
In the magpul's case it's kinda contoured for the correct, rear orientation, but the front sight has a bunch of holes and stuff. Since it's an ambi release, it really wouldn't matter which orientation except for aesthetics.
I personally like HK style sights. Troy and Samson make good ones as well as many other makers. The Magpuls were always a little odd to me, but I like their spring release. The PROs and other metal sights don't have that feature.Comment

The Thordson Stock is not for me so I made my own "Grip Wrap" this morning out of an old license plate. #irony This is to give a big FU to the California Legislators that think this is a good idea.

Got a MM grip today. Trimmed it a bit to fit better. So much better than the shark fin.
