New DD AR15, looking for advice on upgrades

    Hi y?all,

I recently purchased a new DD AR15 with a fixed 10rd mag. I?m from the era of bullet buttons but I know those are now band and no longer available. Is there any new technology or advancement that are CA friendly I can install that would make loading the rifle a bit more easier? Or should I turn it into a featherless build?

    Thanks!

If you have to cripple your gun then Featureless, all the mag lock designs suck. And if you got any freedom week mags you can use them on a featureless rifle.

I appreciate the feedback, I?m probably going to go featureless for sure, got plenty of freedom mags as well. I go shooting with my dad and it?s just difficult for him to consistently open the receiver to load the gun, plus I just feel it?s dangerous as well.

Having tried maglocks... Go featureless. After a range session it'll begin to feel natural.

IMO FEATURELESS SUCKS! Just common sense dictates it sucks... who would want their gun to have no features?!?! LOL! You should go with the Battle Arms fixed mag option that combined with the AR MAGLOCK Kingpin will allow you to quickly drop the mag with just a slight break of the action. It's very very simple!!!! And you get to keep all your features!

Slight break in action unlocks mag release... it's fast!

YouTube video showing how quick you can change mags with Kingpin. Now mine uses the Battle Arms pin instead of the AR MagLock mag release so that I can use the stock mag release.

If you are primarily focused on the cosmetic appearance of your rifle = Maglock

If you are primarily focused on the function of your rifle as it was designed = Featureless
