    Scope this out...

Waiting on a Nightforce 3.5-15X for my R-5 but while I was waiting I got the hankering to mount scopes and had two Leupold Mark 2 6-18X T-1 with mildot reticles in my drawer --

They're buffed up versions of straight Leupold hunting scopes -- So I mounted one on my LMT DI upper

(with a little help from an aluminum GG&G riser from ADDAX Tactical -- my hometown gun good guys -- )

And then put th eother on my Kimber Advanced Tactical .308.

I've been on 30mm scopes only for a long time but I thought I'd give these a try -- these "semi-tactical" finish one inch tubed Mark 2s are bright, crisp, and the power range (6-18x) is not available in the Mark IV scopes -- (and they're a third the money)

MArk4's have 6.5-20x 50mm, with 30mm Tubes and lit reticals. Good scopes these have VX2 glass and 1" tubes. Alot less internal travel then the Mark4's..... Thats something to consider when shooting past 800 yards...

Nightforce reigns king in my book if you cant afford a USO or Premier Heritage scope. The NF is 2nd Focal plan is very nice for the money. I have 2 Nf scopes currently, 3.5-15x 50mm MLR/Mils and 5.5-22x50mm MLR/Mils (both are currently being used by our troops on thier 300win mags MK13 Mod0-5).

Right on, Adam -- Serious consideration -- which I why I switched to 'em. I'm entirely happy with these two short barreled rifles to go puttering at 100 yards at Angeles, out to the 300 yard swingers is about all I would shoot at with them -- That's why the Nightforce 15X coming for the R-5 M700SS I want to make that into a serious range gun.

Re: Kimber -- I always think I'm just gonna sell it and then I pull it out to take to the range and I'm in love again.

The 6.5-20 I thought was THE scope for my rifles -- AND is used to have the 8.5-25x 30mm Leupold LRT on my Springfield M-21. But it was so powerful I could see air molecules and it was too hard to focus. As I said, my 40+ year old eyes are happy to strain out to 400 yards, tops.

Who in LA puts on a SECURE giant bolt knob? Doesn't Badger make the knob?
