Stores in CA that sells Saiga 7.62

Local gun shops around where I live refuse to take transfers from other states. Said it is banned, any AK-style rifle is evil

I remember there was a gun store in Taft or something that actually sold Saigas...I was wondering if I could get my gun store to buy from another store in CA so he wouldnt get in fit because he's got something stuck up his ***.

Wondering if you guys know of any stores that sell Saigas

Find an FFL and get one from DD's Ranch.

Ten percent is in Taft. And they sell Saigas. Also CWS in Highland.

The Orange County Indoor shooting range in Brea sells them. I think their website is ocindoorrange.com. Also Ammo Bros in Cerritos near the 605 sells them as well. Not sure what part of CA you're in though...

thanks i was looking for that.
I live in northern california, sacramento.

Also many gun store owners around where I live said I cannot have a detachable magazine. Is this true?

I am looking for a Saiga that does not have it's magazine welded shut. That defeats the purpose, I might as well get a shotgun

I saw a Ruger 10/22 with a detachable magazine and the guy said because it's a small caliber, no danger of criminals

Cold War Shooters (CWS) also has a booth at some of our CA gun shows (perhaps they will be at a show near OP's location?)

As I understand your question, it is related to CA assault weapon laws. First, these laws do not apply to rimfire rifles (which include the Ruger 10/22). Second, the best general overview of CA AW laws is here:

                CA Assault Weapon ID Flowchart

CA Assault Weapon ID Interactive Chart

About your specific question, the Saiga rifles in stock configuration have detachable magazines and are legal. This is because (in a nutshell) that part of CA AW law says 'you cannot have a detachable magazine AND any feature from the law's 'evil feature list' (pistol grips, etc.). In stock configuration, the Saigas have no 'evil features,' so they can have a detachable magazine.

I just got my Saiga last night, can't wait to shoot it. Used a guy in Santee for the transfer. He works out of his house, calls his business Gussler's. His name is Donald Gussler. His number is 619-258-2543. Nice guy.

EDIT: lol stupid me..you're not anywhere near me. sorry for the stupid post

There's a place in Castro Valley that has them. Irvington arms sells Saigas as well. I think you can look up FFL holders on DOJ's website. There is contact info, so you could give them a call.

Isn't there a sticky somewhere here on calguns FFL's and their fees?

wow thanks a lot for the quick input! Site would be great if it had a reputation system.

So how does the process work?

                        1. Go to local gun store, ask manager to order Saiga from another gun store within CA (just so I don't have to worry about confiscation/further annoyances)
                        2. When gun arrives, fill out paperwork, wait 10 days.
                        3. Profit?

                            Do this:
                            1) find an FFL in the Sacramento area that will accept Saigas (like JK Supply).
                            2) order Saiga from DD's Ranch and have it shipped to said FFL for the transfer: http://ddsranch.com/cart/index.php?m...th=277_290_388
                            3) go to said FFL, fill out paperwork, pay the DROS fee + whatever the FFL charges as a transfer fee.
                            4) pick up Saiga from said FFL when your 10 day wait period is up.
                            5) go to range and enjoy your new toy.

If the local gun stores in Sac won't transfer Saigas, it won't make any difference whether it comes from an in-state or out-of-state seller.

Bay Area Gun Vault sells them and they're a fantastic shop to deal with. They're the friendliest store I've been to since I got here.
