    Remington model 721 30-06

hey guys I just bought a new/old deer rifle. My Savage was all jacked up. The barrel got tweaked slightly ( have no idea how it happend) so it needed a replacement but I decided to get this remington 721 from my bro in law. is 345$ a fair price to pay?
I know its a older rifle. My bro in law said its in perfect shape. I left my rifle up at his place. I was gonna have the barrel replaced but it was gonna cost 250$ for the barrel alone so he said he will sell me that remington. he doesnt use it anymore. I know theire older rifles but what do you guys think. Im sort of asking after the fact but ..........
    thanx

If the deal is already done, then it's pointless.

Can't say without looking at pics. Did you inspect the barrel/action? How many rounds? Etc.

I've seen older 721s in good shape go for around $300 on gunbroker. It is not worth much today. If I were selling to a family member, I wouldn't ask for more than $250 or so, but if the deal's already done, nothing more to say.

That price may be a touch high, not too much. If it's in perfect shape - and my definition of perfect is the gun looks like it time traveled from the late 50's when it was new - I'd say how can you go wrong?

So far as general hunting goes, I don't think there's anything a new Remington 700 can do that a 721 can't do just as well, except maybe empty a mag of ammo, the 721 doesn't have a drop open floorplate. I suppose I'm partial though, having a 721 in 300 H & H and all.
