    M1A Stocks?

    Hi all,

Trying to find either a factory Springfield M1A synthetic or USGI fiberglass stock to replace my snoopy selector cut out walnut stock.

Reason is the top shelf of my safe fell, and a small screw managed to find its way into the cutout hole.

Luckily I heard it jangling around inside and got it out before I had to use it.

Anyway, everywhere I look, its out of stock.

Avoid the SAI polymer stock, get a USGI fiberglass. Post a WTB on the PX at M14forum and someone might have one for you that isn't ridiculously overpriced.

NOTE MINIMUM ORDER IS $75. SHIPPING IS FREE THE LOWER 48. PLEASE READ BELOW ABOUT SHIPPING TIMES

Numrich will also have some, best to call them though.

As far as the fake selector switches from hawk, couldn't hurt to try it. Don't recall any negatives, but I have never used one or installed one, mainly because I have never had a wood stock with a selector cut-out.

Click on this link to visit the BLK RFL DIV online store. BRD is a 2A dedicated clothing brand.

SAI stocks are fine. Your in Sac, try Action Surplus here:

5800 Auburn Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95841
        (916) 332-500

They had about 10 USGI fiberglass stocks at the front door when I was there a couple of months back.
The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one.

Personally, I would get the kit from Hawk, which is what I did with mine. I prefer the USGI stocks to the after market ones. I think the USGI are inletted and fitted better. Personally, I don't like filling the cutouts, since very few look good.
As for the USGI fiberglass stocks. They are nice in that one can fill the cut outs, and then paint them, to hide the filling. However, USGI stocks are a bit too flexible in the forend. One can epoxy a couple of arrow shafts into the stock to stiffen it up, which is what I did. The next fiberglass stock I am getting I will trying using some aluminum angle, epoxied in.

SAI stocks are not fine. They no longer used repainted USGI fiberglass units. Now they are crappy injection molded pieces that are awful.

If you like the way it fits in your current stock just fill in the selector cutout with epoxy or get the cheap hawk selector thingy.

You could go to your local home improvement store, get a small scrap of walnut stock from the salvage bin, and make a plug to fit in the selector cutout.

If you like your current stock, just get the dummy selector. It really adds to the look, IMO, and fills that unsightly hole.
Or get a surplus USGI wood or fiberglass and fill that with a dummy selector too.

I sold my JAE because it was too heavy, as far as comfort, I prefer McMillian A3 (they are heavy too).
