I read a thread stating Hungarian AK mags are the best. Does anybody modify and sell CA compliant ones?

If you're looking some basic 10 rd mags than I'd go with the Chinese 5-rounders w/Tapco +5 followers. They are really solid mags, but they are the shorty type so they may not look as cool as the full length 30 rounders. A big plus is that they can usually be had for about $10 and the +5 followers are like $2.

nobody i know but if the only mags people had to sell were say "usa brand" would they be the best magazine just cause they were the ones available in great numbers?

Yep - a good solution.
I really don't understand the 10/30 thing. Have a mag that's always at least 2/3 empty is odd to me.
