    Buffer Size

I have a BHW barrel on order with a rifle length gas system. Should I go with a rifle specific buffer and spring or H, H2, H3 type buffer. My other 2 rifles are carbines so this is new to me. Same question for a mid length as I have a mid barrel on order too.

It doesn't have anything to do with the other.

Rifle, mid, and carbine length gas systems are just that, the gas system.

Rifle buffers and buffer tubes are for A2 and similar stocks. Carbine buffers and buffer tubes are for adjustable m4 type stocks.

You can run rifle length gas on a lower with a carbine buffer, tube, and m4 stock. You can run carbine length gas on a lower with a rifle buffer, tube, and stock.

The stock weight thing is a separate matter of tuning by changing weights, that to be honest shouldn't be something to even concern yourself with unless you're trying to resolve a problem(otherwise you're more likely to just create a problem).

OK, it is going on an adjustable m4 type stock. Where do I start?

You just need a regular carbine buffer and carbine spring. Thats it. Nutin fancy

Get a carbine buffer tube kit like this one or buy the carbine tube, spring, buffer end plate and castle nut separately.
As for actual buffer weight like H, H2 or H3, I'll let someone more experienced to chime in
"I'll just have one lower and swap in different uppers!"

You're making this out to be more complicated than it is. Your gas system is irrelevant when discussing the stock. Buy a milspec diameter carbine buffer tube, a carbine buffer, and a milspec diameter collapsible stock of your choice, the end.

I'm all set with the stock. I didn't try to make it complicated, just askin' is all. Now I know.

just use the standard 3 oz buffer that costs like $10

Buy one of each and keep them in your range bag.

You may find yourself needing to swap to a lighter buffer if you're shooting a lot of underpowered ammo.

For the softest recoil impulse you want to run the heaviest buffer that still cycles reliably with whatever ammo you are shooting.
