    Samson Evo Rail installed. Question...

Just got back from having my new Samson Evo Keymod rail installed. This thing looks awesome! I had a Troy Bravo 11in rail and went to this 12.37in Samson.

For those familar with this rail my question is... Should the clamps that screw together always be touching when tightened?

The reason I ask is mine are NOT but rail seems on there nice and sung. The installtion sheet says they should be touching and so does the youtube video from Samson. I just wondering if anyone has the Evo rail on in the same manner.

Sounds like you out the bolts in through the wrong side, take them out put them through the other way and they will seat fully. Did this exact same thing on my evo first time putting it on. It won't stay tight for long the way it is now, ask me how I know?

10-4... the screws are going from right (ejection port side) to left. So you would be screwing turning the screw from the ejection port side.

        Is this correct?

I just made sure that they are tight. Remember is aluminum so it doesn't bend much. Make sure you use loctite. And in not sure the way my screws are going is the correct way

I just looked at a few pictures online.

Pluke... Your screws are correct and mine are NOT. In my defense I had my local AR shop (who by the way stocks tons of Samson rails) install this. Ha.

Time to find a new shop perhaps!

Ok I stand corrected. My screws are in correctly I checked when I got home.

Also, I went back to the gun shop and they double checked it and said it was on tight and correct even with the gap.

Pluke.. Have you ever had issues running your rail even though there's a gap between your clamps?

no issues. ive got 500 rounds through her and she does recoil more than your average ar15

time will tell though. ive only taken it out once (one long weekend trip).

Well I'm going to the range this weekend. See if it gets lose at all.

If it's not too much trouble can you post a close up of your gapping. I just want to see if it's larger or smaller than the gap I was left with.

Thanks for all your help sir.

BTW... I emailed Samson to ask how common it is to have gapping on these rails. I'll let you know what they say.

correction... I looked at one of the two this morning - there is a small gap... I suspect the other is the same (its farther in the safe and I didn't bother to take it out).

OP - if it's a 2-3mm or so gap, you should be fine - the two I have are solid...
