    Macon Armory .45 D.I. Upper

The weather finally broke here and I got to the range today.
Got to try out my new Macvon Armory .45 D.I. upper.
I stopped by Academy and picked up targets and 100 rounds of Monarch 230 gr. FMJ. It was cheap and I wanted to see if the upper would cycle with cheap ammo.

    The upper has a:
    mil spec upper receiver
M.I. Key-Mod Gen ll hand guard
    M.I. SPLP folding BUIS
Rainier Arms BCG--Rudy replaced the bolt with a custom .45 bolt
    Macon Armory .45 16" barrel with A2 FH .45 cal 5/8"
Macon Armory Gas block and gas tube.
    Lower is mil spec
Macon Armory Mag block adapter for .45 ACP.
    Carbine buffer and spring.

The .45 D.I. upper ran without a hitch. Slow fire, rapid fire. Not one malfunction.
Accuracy with the Cheap 230 gr. Monarch was 2-3" at 50 yards.
Recoil is very mild. Easy follow up shots.
The rounds seemed to stay sub sonic. Lots quieter than a 5.56.

This upper is literally a blast to shoot. It's a lot of fun and makes a thump when you hit the back stop.
My camera went down before I could get any shots of the targets.
My old Hakko also went down so I was shooting with irons.

Rudy at Macon Armory answered all my questions and was great to talk with. Just a good ole boy. He's done a real nice job with these.

    I like it!
It would make a nice pistol with a shorter barrel

Reminds me of the old Tommy Guns with even less felt recoil.

I went through 100 rounds of cheap Monarch 230 gr. with 0 problems.
            The mags are ProMag.

I've had mine for a couple years (uses .45 Uzi mags) , also DI, very short tube.
              Rudy is great.

                  Seems interesting.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

                    That's what interested me. It's D.I.
It ran a lot cleaner than I thought it would.
It's not a precision piece but it would certainly lay a slap down on a body.
I could hear the thud of the round hitting the back stop and see the mud fly.

The magwell adapter is easy to convert to CA legal as well....we just trim the paddle and use something like a pocket screwdriver to trip the catch from the bottom......and the adapter can be helds in with a bullet button.

I was told by Rudy the shorter barrels work GREAT on the dedicated lowers.....but because of positioning and the way the mag must fit in the adapter to function.....can't run much shorter than 11 inch with the USC adapter.
