    Reality check here:

Actually, that is not all that bad a price in today's market. I have built a few retro Ar's and a 20" pencil barrel with the front sight mounted is going to $190+ shipping all day. That leaves the cost of a kit at $400. Which is a decent price in today's market.

I have seen the prices of these kits go from $300 last spring to $500 at some vendors in just a few months as the supplies dry up. The prices on original Colt 20" pencil barrels is hovering around $250 to $350+ depending on condition of the bore and outside finish, so finding a complete kit with a genuine Colt barrel for under six bills is going to be like finding a Unicorn in your back yard.

To the poster that wanted to put a set of A2 sights on one. If you want to do that, I have a like new A2 upper with GI sights that I would be willing to trade you straight across for a decent A1 upper with sights.

Ad says "needs a lower parts kit", but if the picture looks like the only missing parts are the trigger group and the lower.

Parts kit came yesterday! Finally got a chance to unpack and inspect.

First impressions: It's very well packaged. Everything was sealed in heavy plastic and packed with plenty of padding. Compared to a couple AK kits I've gotten, which look like they were thrown in the box from across the warehouse, I found this refreshing. Shipping was fast (shipped out the next morning) and they had no problem with my special instructions (deliver to UPS store).

The upper is complete and appears well-assembled. There was a longitudinal scrape (not really a scratch) in the phosphate on the barrel, maybe from when the FSB was pressed? Other than that, no complaints. The handguards are in good shape, no missing fingers. There's a lot of cosmoline residue on the original parts.

Looks like the original BCG and charging handle. F/A bolt, staked gas keys, lots of cosmoline:

The stock and PG could have been better. The buttplate is cracked around the upper screwhole, down to the trap door. Some corrosion on the sling attachment. Luckily I already have a complete stock/PG kit that's in better shape.

The LPK that came with the kit is incomplete, but included the mag catch assembly; buffer detent and spring; bolt catch, spring, and roll pin; hammer and trigger springs; takedown pins and one detent/spring pair; PG screw and washer; and the interrupter spring. No hammer or trigger. So a bare-bones LPK will finish it.

Now I just need to finish my 80% NDS retro lower...

Depends on how into the retro look you are.

Just as noozeguy said, mine came perfectly packaged. However there is seems to be one issue, my front gas block "pins" have not been inserted all the way.

Does anyone know how I should go about getting these in?

                            Those A1's look b1tchin!

I just want to note that a few years ago I purchased an AR pistol kit from them, complete upper running flawlessly. I opted chrome lined barrel and bolt/carrier.

There are a lot of people who have had bad experiences with these guys, but I didn't do any research before I bought and everything went ok.

Call or email akbuilder and let them fix it. Their customer service has always been excellent. The minute you f**k with it you own it.

Fair enough, guess I'll just have to be patient then. I was looking forward to the range this weekend too
