AFAIK, the Russian SKS never came in a paratrooper configuration. Chinese perhaps?

The "paratrooper/cowboy" length SKS were all made by China and for the commercial market.

The USSR made SKS rifles from 1945-1955.
So, there are no "NIB" Russian SKS. If there was and documented as such, it would be worth several thousand dollars to collectors.

I've recently seen a Chinese paratrooper SKS for $500 but there weren't any takers. Russian SKS in excellent condition for $700ish? maybe a bit more to a motivated buyer.

look on the left side of the receiver and look for markings--/26\ is Chinese. Russian SKS will have a milled bolt/charging handle and be polished, if it is black then it is arsenal refinished and probably counter-bored.

Definitely get pictures and post them on here

Very likely it was arsonal rebuilt. Not NIB. If the bolt is black, it is for sure rebuilt and check for markings like a diagonal slash within a square. Do numbers match? Check this site out before you kick yourself. http://yooperj.com/SKS.htm.BAK

            IMHO, keep the SIG.

I would pay $500-$600 for a nice Russian SKS, if pristine, others may pay up to $700.

I would pay $450 for a profesional cut down Russian SKS, I've seen them before and they looked pretty good, but it's a sad to Bubba a Russian SKS IMOP.

I would pay $400 for a Chinese Paratrooper, hate too, it's too much, but if I wanted one, I'd have to pay the price, they go for $400 up, I have one we paid ?? I think $250-$275 for.

I would pay up to $325 for a NIB Commercial Norinco SKS in great condition, but they often sale for up to $400.

The older Chicom ones, that recently flooded the market going for $199 or so in poor condition, I'd pay up to $275 for one if I really wanted one, but I dont.

i think the only real difference between a Chinese and a Russian SKS is the desirability one has over the other, they both function the same.

See i knew i would get the information i was looking for! Thanks for the cool sks link too.
I might pass on the deal. Who knows i need to go see the rifle first. So if they are worth 4-5, why are the price gougers asking 7-8?

Those non referbs probably sold for $149. If your rifle is a lami, It aint a non refurb izzy. That might help explain why you see higher priced ruskis though.
