Which barrel to get for the LMT MWS?

I currently have a .308 16" chrome lined barrel, and am looking at:

    .308 20" 1:10 stainless
    .243 20" 1:9 stainless
    .260 20" 1:9 stainless
    7mm-08 20" 1:9 stainless

I'd want to limit my COAL to the internal dimension of the PMAG. The intent is to shoot paper and steel 400-600 yds in variable wind, in So Cal and Arizona. This might also be used for shooting coyotes. I am currently reloading the .308 for this and my bolt gun, which also has a 20" 1:10 barrel. I'd just need to get dies and projectiles if I go with one of the other options.

I've been wanting to try shooting something that might have a flatter trajectory in the 6mm or 6.5mm variants. Santa is waiting for a decision from me. Any thoughts?

I think you posted this in the wrong forum, but you'll most likely want 1:8" for 6, 6.5mm if you want to shoot the heavier bullets typical for those cartridges.

Dang it. I did. But your twist rate comment helps, JMP. Thanks.

Get the .260 rem barrel. IMO the flattest shooting choice.

I have the 18" 5R barrel in .308. I've been ringing steel at 800 yards for a while with this rifle. I even tried the barrel swap, not really believing the claim that it would return to zero. I'll be damned if it didn't. I couldn't believe it, being a bolt guy.

Personally, being the owner of A LOT of calibers, I have found it to be handy to limit the amount of calibers if possible. Sounds a little boring, but a good quality piece of glass on that rifle, a Geissele trigger, and that 5R barrel is pretty hard to beat. And of course, quality handloads or otherwise match ammo.

            Not with a 1:9 twist.

The 1:9 twist 243 barrel will shoot up to 105gr bullets which makes it flatter shooting than any of the other choices.
The 1:9 twist will limit the 260 to 123's and maybe 130's.

A 6.5 Creedmoor barrel is also available in 1:8 20" stainless.
