How do YOU clean your AR15?

A friend of mine uses brake cleaner on his, then lubricates it with mobil1. Seems to work quite well actually.

I have been using my Otis bore snake with pads and a copper wire brush. I clean the internals with brake cleaner, since it certainly will degrease it. I've been using Break Free to lubricate it.

    Your turn!

Clean and ar15, in the same sentence? Thats blasphemy.

That being said i focus on the chamber. Thats the only area ive ever had a problem. Cleaning internals is useless unless your in a sandbox type environment and even then is pretty minimal.

Drop of lube on the carrier, thats it.

A drop? Wow. I've heard that you should be a little more liberal with lube than that.

I use brake or carb cleaner to blast out the gas tube. Bore snake with whatever bore solvent I happen to have for the barrel, followed by a soak with foaming copper solvent. Clean and lube carrier with CLP.

                        I use a 20cal jag/rod with 1-1/8" patches.
22cal nylon brush initially to loosen up powder fouling.
22cal bronze brush after powder/carbon fouling is removed to loosen up surface copper fouling.

                        Works for me.

                          Wait-wait-wait -- you're supposed to clean your AR-15??
I thought they were perfect, ran like Swiss watches on steroids with crappy Wolf ammo in sand or snow, and a blast of "gunscrubber" in the ejection port was all that was necessary.

What is going on? Hit "post" once and double posted -- doing that a lot lately. Seriously, the bench rest boys have it right with solvents and dewey one piece rods. Tact boys can spray carb cleaner and use boresnakes just fine.

I'm a huge fan of moble 1 never bakes dry . As far as clean , I keep my ar clean really clean I take the bolt apart usually every other time or if I go out for lots of shooting , scrub the inner upper use a chamber brush do the barrel with a jag and brushes wheen it looks brand new I'm done. clp for most of the cleaning & wiping but clp dries up with heat during a lot of shootng .
