Seems RRA, and to lesser extent Colt and Olympic Arms are the main makers of 9mm uppers. Can't say much about Colt and Olympic Arms, but my RRA 9mm upper has been rock solid. It shoots WWB and Wolf fine, it does hiccup on aluminum Blazer (under powered and the casings tend to misfeed and dent). The newer generation of C-Products mags have given me no isssue yet. -

If you can get an RRA upper and 9 mags for $350, yeah, that's a great deal! Would this be for 9mm specific build or would you swap back and forth with other calibers? That'll help you pick the right trigger.
I have the CMMG 2-stage in mine and it works great for both 9mm and .223.Comment

is that just the upper or the block too? sounds like a good deal either way with the mags

Mine does has the 9mm specific hammer, 9mm buffer, and the required mag block. 350 is a great deal if you can get the rest of the parts too. The mags alone are worth it, if they are colt brand. There was thread that certain triggers worked well with RRA 9mm bolt, while others needed the bolt ramped.Comment

Electric Factory, it appears to me that you have a mag block designed to use Sten magazines in an Oly Arms type conversion, not a Colt/RRA conversion, although I could be wrong. That's a sten magazine in your picture, not an uzi mag; modified Uzi mags use the standard mag release with the appropriate mag well adapter, and unmodified uzi mags use the VM Hytech adapter which adds a new mag release.
Oly conversions have an entirely different ejector and bolt than Colt/RRA conversions. Do all your magazines have issues with stovepiping/failure to feed? I would expect them to if it is an Oly adapter.Last edited by redcliff; 10-16-2008, 3:40 PM."You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

I agree, that note an UZI mag, nor is that a typical RRA/Colt mag adapter. Does look like an Oly/STEN mag adapter.
From what I can see through the ejection port. The 9mm bolt also doesn't look like a RRA/Colt. RRA factory 9mm uppers, will usually have their logo laser engraved on the top rear portion of the pictinny rail.
I'm not too familiar of the Oly 9mm setup. But IIRC the ejector spring is usually part of the upper. You can usually see a hole drill through the upper receiver for the wire ejector. But, I don't see it in you pic.
OK, re-read the OP, I see that you did not state this to be an RRA conversion. You were just seeking advice on non-RRA conversions.Last edited by REDHORSE; 10-16-2008, 4:03 PM.Comment

Go see Randall in Culver City when he gets back.
And yeah, those are definitely Sten and not UZI mags.Last edited by aplinker; 10-16-2008, 4:12 PM.

Oly 9mm conversion:
Can see wire ejector and barrel, very much different than the Colt/RRA style.

Oly 9mm bolt

Oly style ejector & and STEN mag types. Both styles of STEN mags, with block welded and one for use with mag adapter.
