    Gun Repair

To put it in simple terms, the piece is not fitting how it should.

I took my .22 to the range this weekend to shoot and I walked in during a ceasefire and the range officer asked me to lock my bolt open and in doing so I noticed that the bolt would not go back all the way to actually lock. We fiddled with it and decided to chamber a round when the range went hot and it did so just fine, but wouldn't shoot because the bolt wouldn't go far enough back to cock the gun; the trigger also felt funny but that could have just been due to the part malfunctioning. I don't know the lingo for gun parts (please bare with me) but I unscrewed that cap holding the bolt, another metal thing with a spring on it, and a little metal piece that connected the two. I took a picture of how it went in the gun. The last metal part with the spring normally slides in and out of the gun easily but it was literally jammed and would not budge. After twenty minutes and a lot of strength, it came out and the same problem occurred when trying to put it back in; it would not move to go into its correct place. As you can see, that metal piece with the spring would normal slide in about an inch (with the end of the spring sticking out), just past the threads in the end of the barrel, but will not go. The gun has been shooting fine for weeks and I don’t really want to have to spend the money on a gunsmith unless I have to. Anyone have any ideas? If you need more pictures or a different explanation of something let me know.

Thats my all time favorite .22LR gun

It sounds like the problem may be in the trigger assembly actually,

The weight with the spring dingus is the striker assembly, the long thin thing is the firing pin and the part which actually contacts the round is the bolt body.

My guess is that the trigger is not disengaging the sear which catches the striker.... not sure what can cause that without looking at my rifle (Its about 3k miles away right now)

undo the stock bolt and show us the trigger assembly up close...

You may just need to blast it with some CLP, as this design tends to run very very dirty (hence the vents on the sides to help blow stuff out)

If you ever want to sell it, let me know.

    these are seriously my favorites

Ok, what I think is going on is actually just you assembling it incorrectly.

(not a bad thing, I screwed it up myself a few times when i got mine)

Try taking the bolt and inserting it partially and using the firing pin to poke it forward untill the hole for the charging handle lines up with the slot in the receiver.

You may have to pull the trigger in order to get the bolt to move far enough forward for this to work.

Put the charging handle into the hole in the bolt and move it forward about half way.

then insert the firing pin into the slot at the top of the bolt, it should hold the charging handle in place.

with The T shaped bit of the firing pin still sticking out the back of the receiver line up the striker so that the cut out on the top of it fits the T shape of the back of the firing pin.

Then work the striker and bolt forward, pulling the trigger if you encounter resistance.

You should wind up with both the striker and the bolt in the forwardmost position (at which time it will be much easier to compress the spring and put the endcap back on)

Oh, I forgot to mention, you need to make sure the safety is OFF for this
