    Long range shooting.

I have a .308 AR that I built with the mindset that I wanted to do more longer range shooting. My problem is after I built it life kind of started taking over more of my time. Serious GF, family, longer work hours, etc etc etc. I am sure many of you can relate. Anyways, I just can't seem to get to the range as often as I used to. Does anyone know of an app or even a computer game that I can use for practice of Zeroing, longer range adjustments, calculating with ballistics? I vaguely remember someone mentioning a program like this on here at one point.

I know it won't make up for actual range time. I have only been able to get to the range 1-2 times a year. Most of the time I get there and zero my rifle and I am not efficient at it. I can hit gongs out to 300 yds fairly easy but I confuse myself with how many clicks and in which way. Then after I finally remember things its time to go home. 6 - 8 months later I do it all over again.

Looking for something realistic, I already have sniper elite and battlefield 4

There are many good ballistics apps. I have BulletFlight and Ballistic on my iPad. I pretty much only use Ballistic.

But....NOTHING will replace trigger time. There is waaaayyyyyy more to shooting long(er) range then just knowing bullet drop. Wind doping is something your learn by doing...at least fro me...YMMV.

Dry firing can help with trigger control, but again....your will become more proficient by actually shooting.

Life has a way of getting in the way of our hobbies....just a part of life. If something is important to you, you can find ways to make it happen.

    Happy Holidays!

What do you hear ???...... Nothing but the rain. Well grab your gun and bring in the cat.

did you check out this entire youtube series on long range shooting?

there are tons of stuff to record and log for your rifle and ammo and there is an excel spreadsheet he goes through.

it should be fun if you want to do serious long range.

I use AppliedBallistics. It has all the typical ballistic calculator features and some more. It allows you to save all your targets shot, a range calculator and my favorite, ballistic calibrations which allows for "truing."

just get a 100 yard zero, then for your elevation, all you have to do is adjust your elevation turret counter clockwise for your come ups.

get your velocity, your bullet BC numbers, then plug into JBM ballistics.

just remember for wind, if the wind is coming from the left, you want to adjust your dope INTO the wind, meaning, you turn the windage knob "L" to compensate for wind. So wind coming from the left, turn windage knob in the direction your knob says "L"

StrelokPro.... Boris updates this all the time. Keeps adding reticals. Heck, I submitted him a retical for consideration and with the huge assistance of the retical designer he now offers that one too. Email him if you have a retical design not represented.
Awesome program. Many reticals represented. Like the others said there is no replacement for actual trigger time.
Like many programs the more info you can feed it the more accurate it will be.
