Maybe a AR-10 if you like Simi Autos.

        I have a VTR 700 and I LOVE it!!!

Iam starting to reload so it will improve my MOA, but so far (while using very cheapo ammo, 147gr) i get decent accuracy up to 200 yards (under or very close to 1 inch most of time).
Never tried it over 200 yards yet.
note (I have badger rings and base and Leupold Mk4 M1 scope, harris bipod and cheek rest)
The rifle is so far trouble free (around 400 shots)

I agree 100%. I just took out my .308 SPS Tactical this past weekend and shot a .5 MOA group at 100 yards! The best I have done so far, I hope to soon narrow it down

PS: Great buy for the price!

                    Tikka T3 Tactical .308

or if you don't have $1200

                    Tikka T3 Lite .308
I own this rifle. You will get 1/2 inch groups at 100 yrds or your rifle will be replaced or refunded. That the guarantee.
It does not lie. I'm putting them damn near in the same hole. In fact, when I mount it in a sight vise I get 5/8 inch at 200 yards.
The trigger seems to be set perfect. The gun is very light. It comes with rings and they actually hold your optic in place.
I've shot about 400 rounds through mine with no issues
Limbsaver makes a specific butt pad for it which is great. Not that the gun has a ton of kick it's just more com fortable if, like me, you may sit and run 50 rounds through it before taking any breaks.

I know I would go with either an M1A or a Savage.

Remington 700. While a bull barrel is great at the range, it is simply not great in the field. However, a field gun like a Remington 700, is also a lot of fum at the range. Then, when you just gotta have the accurate range/sillouette gun, you go with a bull barrel Savage or Remington 700 or Rem 700 5R...
