  • Yogo M59 and SKS parts interchangeable?

So I was telling a buddy of mine I've been reading a lot on this board about legality and such for CA residents. He mentioned that he has a Norenko? SKS and got a bunch of 10 round mags just to find out that he has to use the fixed mag. Well this is where I jumped in and told him about the Yogo m59's i have been reading about. So we got online and looked at them. Although it would be nice to have the ability to change mags, the Yugo has a logger barrel, and my buddy has the SKS carbine with 16' barrel. so I got thinking.

Could one who has both SKS and Yugo interchange the barrels?
Then he could have a Yugo M59 with 16 inch barrel, and the ability to accept a 10 round detachable mag?

SKS barrels are threaded and screw into the receiver. The Norinco SKS with the 16" barrel is known as the Paratrooper. The Paratrooper was purely a commercial manufacture as the military SKS were never made with the 16" barrels. Chicom commercial SKSs used more stamped parts and later models had pressed in and pinned barrels (to save on manufacture time / costs).

You need to check to see whether the Norinco has a pressed or threaded barrel.

Why are you wanting to switch barrels in the first place? Pressed or threaded it still isn't an easy task
In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

Norinco SKS, if it's a paratrooper model, is more valuable than Yugo. If you want a tacticool Yugo, just chop the barrel of to desirable lenght and solder front sight to a gas block. You might need to drill larger gas port for proper semi-auto function but that's an easy part.

+1, cut the barrel down, you might get called "Bubba", but it is your gun...
