No theres not a break in period. If it jams now it will jam later. Theres something wrong with it.

I have had a few friends with Bushmaster uppers or complete rifles and two of them have had feeding issues. Both times we found that the gas block (or chopped FSB in those cases) was canted, and causing a short-stroke.

PPU may not be the most powerful ammo out there (at least I have found it to be pretty weak in 10mm), perhaps try a hotter load and see if it persists since you said you cleaned the weapon well.

Try different ammo before you take anything apart and check for problems

was it actually ejecting the spent round? If not, you probably have bad extractor tension in your BCG.

Or you may be short stroking and the rifle is undergassed for that round. You can either try a lighter buffer or hotter rounds.

Just my guesses. Someone with more experience chime in.

There's usually not a break in period, but I bought a new BCM a few months back and it jammed on every round for the first 20 rounds or so. I had the ro look at the rifle and he told me to go through another 20 rounds and it should get better. Kinda irritating to have to cycle a new round after every shot, but eventually it started to cycle just fine. I haven't had any problems since then.

Did you only use 1 magazine? If so, try it with a different magazine.

Hmmm, maybe try a different magazine or ammo manufacturer?

Some guns are just finicky until they loosen up a little, so yes you may need a little break-in.

Not always. If there is a burr or little imperfection or tolerance stacking from machining sometimes a fee rounds will wear in the burr or arts to slide smoother with less resistance.

So sometimes shooting a few rounds, for my LR308 20 hand loads and 10 factory rounds solved all my failure issues.

But technically speaking yes most if not all guns should run out of the box. But some do work after a few rounds.

hat exact "jam" are you having? If you tell us what the gun/cases were doing we OP what exact "jams" are you having, if you explain what exactly the cases/guns are doing we could better diagnose the issue.

To start, I'd say get non PPU ammo, I've noticed PPU ammo having a bigger case rim, also my LR308 ripped the rims off during my break in. (Used PPU brass on a few reloads). Try a different mag, and check your FSB like above. Also make sure it's plenty wet. 308 AR's have a lot of mass and like to be decently wet.

Well if that's the case, bust some rounds through it then send it back. Then get a fresh brand new rifle out of it. Work or not work.

Well if it works maybe keep it, its still sub 100.. And if you start over you could just go full circle, But still.
