JP Silent Captured Spring assembly in AR Pistol? Will it work???

    Hello,

Did an internet search and found nothing.

Will the JP silent captured spring work in an AR pistol? Specifically, KAK pistol buffer tube? My set up is a 10.5" barrel, carbine length gas system, full auto BCG.

I was planning on using a carbine sprinco spring and H2, then while taking my morning deuce, JP popped into my head!

    Will she cycle properly?

    Thanks!

Don't see why not. I use them in all my AR's....even my 9mm AR.

I know they work 'better' on mid-length and rifle length gas systems.

Should work fine on carbine length gas systems on an AR pistol if you're running a 10.5" barrel or have a pigtail gas tube around your 7.5" barrel.

Not sure how it'll run on a pistol length gas system though.

Would be wise to use a adjustable gas block.

I see that JP has different spring rates for the silent captured assembly. Without going to an adjustable gas block, do any of you guys know or have experience with a certain captured spring rate to better accommodate my fixed gas block and carbine length gas system?

Or am I good to go with their pre assembled piece?

            Thanks Gentlemen!

I have one in my 300aac AR pistol. It works flawlessly.

You should have no problem running a JP SCS in your AR with the KAK tube, they're great. As for the JP alternate spring pack, I've only ever needed to change out one for the lighter weight spring on a 7.62x39 AR I built for a friend. The one that comes standard on the SCS will do.

You should really look into an adjustable gas block for your pistol, it will really smooth the cycling on the AR pistol. With heavier springs or buffers, you may run into cycling problems when shooting different types of ammo. Cheaper ammo tends to be "weaker", and have less consistency among the different brands, which may cause cycling issues with a heavy buffer/spring. I've shot expensive 5.56 to cheap .223 through both my 7.5" and 10.5" AR pistols without a heavy buffer, spring, or any issues. If you want to really fine tune your pistol for HD using a specific type of ammo, it's easily done with an adjustable gas block. Syrac and the SLR Sentry adjustable gas blocks are a couple of the best ones I've used. There are other less expensive brands that will work as well.
